Angling guides, or ghillies are not new, they have
been around since at least the eighteen hundreds although in the
early days they were almost solely for the wealthy and landed gentry,
a lot's changed since those early days mainly due to the guides
in America where professional guides make up an important part of
the angling scene for all species. There has always been a limited
amount of angling ghillies for Trout & Salmon in the UK, however
since the mid 1980's we have seen a steady increase in the UK in
people offering guiding services for many different species of freshwater
fish .There's a lot of controversy over guides both here and over
the water in the US, some people say that guides are on an egotistical
trip to prove that they can catch bigger fish than everyone else,
including other guides, others say that guides hammer the same piece
of water until the fishing is ruined. We have to say that yes some
of this is true of certain so called guides both sides of the Atlantic,
however the majority of guides do not follow this selfish route
and indeed prove a superb service to clients whilst also caring
for the environment and the fish in it. Having been in this business
for over two decades now we would like to think that were in the
latter camp and whilst it is true that we do like to see customers
with as many fish as possible and big fish as well we will not go
and work the same area's of water week in, week out, in pursuit
of these fish as some other UK guides do! We try to make our customers
day's special both in surroundings and fish and ultimately hope
they go home with some superb fish, great pictures and fond memories
of a fantastic day out. If your the sort of angler that wishes to chase individual known monster fish then please do not book any trips with us, we do not fish like that, all
our fish come through careful hard work and knowing many different
area's on several different river systems that can produce these
fish, a simple way of saying all this is "watercraft",
a word that is getting forgotten more and more each passing season
by some anglers! |

ALLAN GRIFFITHS
Proprietor & Senior Guide
Allan started fishing when six years old, in those days
anything went with Tench & Bream fishing in the summer and Roach,
Chub & Pike in the winter period. Since the mid 70's however he
has specialised in predators and in particular Pike and is equally
at home with either bait, lure or fly fishing for Pike. He founded "The Predator People" back in 1984 and despite fishing professionally for over twenty years
now still finds enjoyment, and the time, to fish privately both in
the UK and abroad. |

TONY WILSON
Senior Guide
Tony has been fishing since he was 4 years old and can
recollect many adventures with his father poaching the old estate
lakes of Norfolk for there massive shoals of Bream. He's fished for
most species but these days concentrates on mainly Carp, Pike &
Bream. Tony has been with "The
Predator People" since
the late 80's and has been a stalwart of our business. His knowledge
of angling is amazing and his passion for the sport is still the same
as it was when he started fishing back in the 1960's.

Both Allan & Tony are knowledgeable, experienced anglers with a passion
for Pike, they are both experienced in all aspects of fishing for Pike
including baits (both live & dead), trolling, lure and fly fishing.
In addition they are very easy going and there one aim on our
trips is to make sure that you, our customers, have a great day out
and as many fish as possible, they don't go for personal glory, the
important thing is what you catch not what they have caught! |
